God, You give me more and more grace (the power of the Holy Spirit, to meet all evil tendencies fully). That is why You say, You set Yourself against the proud and haughty, but give grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it).{AMP}
James 4:6
Pride is to have a high, unreasonable, or excessive opinion of my own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority; whether as cherished in the mind; or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.
The basic cause for pride is comparing myself with others.
God, You have graced me with unique abilities; and learning to give You the glory, and the thanks; for the presence, or absence of them; according to Your wisdom, and will; is a life-long endeavor.
I will not compare myself with anyone; based on what I can or cannot do; or on what the other can or cannot do.
I will not compare myself with anyone; especially not spiritually.
To look to another, as a check on myself, is to open myself to control.
One of the definitions of control is to check, or regulate, by means of a duplicate register.
If another's opinion, or outlook, is different from mine, I will not then doubt myself, and align with them; but will check with You, God first; and hear what You have to say.
The healthy attitude is to listen respectfully; check inwardly with You; and then decide whether or not to change.
